Travel Medicine
Your destination for Travel Medicine

Manhattan's Physician Group is committed to helping travelers prepare for safe and healthy international travel. During your visit, we will discuss any potential risks you might face during your travels, provide preventive advice about travel-related diseases and administer the recommended vaccinations for your destination. Our services are tailored to your specific travel needs.

We encourage all travelers to schedule their travel consults approximately 4-6 weeks in advance of travel to guarantee you receive the vaccines required for your journey, however, we do offer same or next day appointments. If you are unable to make your appointment, please be aware that there is a $50 non-refundable cancellation fee if your appointment is not cancelled 24 hours prior to your scheduled visit.

The total cost of all vaccines provided will depend on the number of vaccines needed for your desination. The cost of the consultation is not included in the vaccine price. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express as forms of payment; payment is required at the time of service.

At your appointment you will be seen by a registered nurse (RN) and physician. You will be asked to complete a Travel Medicine Health Questionnaire; please print the form from the Additional Resources section and complete prior to your appointment. If you are unable to print the form, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete paperwork. The RN and physician will review your travel itinerary, discuss and provide education regarding the necessary vaccinations and any preventive measures and provide follow up care if needed.

Please be prepared to answer the following questions:
-Demographic information (if you are new patient to MPG, we will require additional information)
-When are you travelling?
-Where are you travelling?
-How long are you travelling?
-Reason for travel? (buiness, pleasure, missionary, school)
-Season of travel at desination?

To schedule an appointment for a travel consultation, please call 1-877-I-LUV-MPG (1-877-458-8674).

Q: How can I make an appointment?

A:
Simply call us at 1-877-I-LUV-MPG (1-877-458-8674) and tell the representative that you wish to schedule a travel consult.

Q: What is required at the time of my appointment?

A:
Please bring a history of vaccinations and a current list of medications you are taking. Also, if possible, we encourage you to bring your travel itinerary and other travel information that you find relevant. Our team will review them with you, assess any risks and make necessary recommendations.

Q: Will vaccine documentation be provided?

A:
Yes, our office provides you with an International Certificate of Vaccination for Travel or a state approved record of vaccination. Our travel clinic is a certified Yellow Fever clinic.

Q: Are prescriptions provided if necessary?

A:
Yes, prescriptions are provided for the prevention of malaria and other diseases if the physician deteremines it is necessary.

Q: How long prior to my departure should I get vaccinated?

A:
MPG encourages that you plan ahaed. Ideally, travel vaccines should be administered 4-6 weeks prior to departure to allow time for travelers to receive any vaccines that must be administered in a series and to acquire immunity. However, we understand that this is not always possible and will do our best to accomodate requests for vacccinations with less time.

Q: Do medical insurances cover the office visit and vaccinations?

A:
As a general rule, most insurance policies do not cover travel consults and vaccinations. Under certain circumstances, your insurer may cover for certain preventive medications (i.e. anit-malarial or diarrheal medicines). Check with your insurance carrier prior to receiving any vaccinations. Either way, MPG can provide you with a detailed bill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Be aware that submitting the bill to your insurance company is not a guarantee for reimbursement and this process is between you and your insurance company, not with MPG.
