A: Chemotherapy is the process of administering chemical drugs to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy is a systematic therapy, meaning that it flows through the bloodstream affecting the whole body. The purpose of chemotherapy and other systematic treatments is to get rid of any cancer cells that may have spread from where the cancer originated within the body. Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to shrink tumors and kill cancer cells in a localized area. It is one of the most common treatments of cancer.
