Q: How should I treat a sunburn?

A:
Avoiding being burned at all is best. If you are out in the sun, cover up with clothing and a hat when you can and use sunblock. A sunblock with a higher SPF number means more protection. If you have fair complexion, then an SPF of 45 or higher is good for you. Remember to reapply sunblock often, especially after swimming. If you do get sunburned, lotions with aloe help to soothe the pain and calm the sunburn. When sunburned, most people tend to get really dehydrated so make sure to stay hydrated and drink a lot of water. Also, you can take an anti-inflammatory for the burn. This will help ease the pain and inflammation of the burn so you are not uncomfortable.
